Cesar and Sandra Uribe
Cesar and Sandra Uribe have lived in the Cuyama Valley for almost 20 years. Both are from Mexico and came to the U.S., separately, about 25 years ago. Their children have grown up on the Valley and they would love for their kids to live in the Valley when they grow up, but they see that there is not much in the way of jobs and that young people have to leave the valley in order to find work and make a life for themselves. Despite this, the valley has been very good to their family. They love it and they are happy and they look forward to spending many more years there. In the time that they have lived there they have seen very few changes, and this is a pace that suits them. They realize that changes that would help the economy would also bring changes that might not be good, this is something they are wary of and that should be carefully balanced.
