He goes to school full time at San Diego City College and works full time as a security guard in downtown San Diego. He is pursuing a degree in Sociology with the goal of working for an international NGO in Syria. “I want to go to Syria to work with refugees because I know what it is like” He has financed his younger brother’s education in private school back in Africa and hopes to be able to bring him to live in the U.S. One of the things that surprised him about life in the U.S. was to see homeless people, he also imagined that life in the U.S. was going to be easier and has found that it takes an enormous amount of determination and tenacity to make it here, both are qualities that he possesses. He plans to apply for his citizenship next year.
